Wolves Of The World
The red wolf is listed separately because for so long it was viewed as it's own separate species (the Canis rufus). The Canis lupus floridanus and Canis lupus gregoryi were recognized as subspecies of the red wolf (and still are by many). However, at the present, they are all identified as subspecies of the gray wolf. Eurasian Gray Wolves It is believed that European Wolves evolved around 150,000 years ago, about the same time as North American Wolves. Asian Wolves, however, are believed to have originated long before. Other Wolves Of The World Wolves Of The Ancient World
